Recently, there has been an increase in fraudulent activity and impersonation scams, posing a threat to your security. At Tucson Federal Credit Union, we are committed to ensuring your safety. Please stay vigilant by familiarizing yourself with common threats and keep the following in mind:
- Phone numbers can be spoofed to impersonate TFCU employees. If they say they are from the “fraud department”, HANG UP!
- Is someone asking for your PIN, access code, or online banking password? DO NOT SHARE YOUR PIN, ACCESS CODE, OR PASSWORDS!
- Is the request “urgent” and requires you to confirm account details or your identity? It’s likely a phishing attempt. DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS!
- If you received a text message from an unfamiliar or suspicious email address, DO NOT RESPOND!
- Does the message contain unusual formatting, odd ID numbers, spelling, or grammar mistakes? DO NOT REPLY!
- Do you recognize the email address, phone number, or short code? If you do not recognize it, DO NOT RESPOND!
What to do if you are contacted:
- Do not give out your personal information. Protect your account!
- Hang up the phone and do not respond to any messages.
- Call TFCU directly at 520-795-8520 to confirm that the request was legitimate.
